Ductless Air Conditioners
Ductless air conditioners (commonly referred to as mini-splits) follow the same principles as traditional air conditioners, with the benefit of no ductwork being required. Therefore, installations are quick and easy. The system consists of a condensing unit (XB1000, XB10, or XB12) matched with an evaporator (MCW). This system not only provides air conditioning, but also offers features such as dry (or dehumidification) mode, as well as a fan-only mode to circulate room air.
As mentioned above, the Trane systems feature the capability to matched with XB 12 condensing units for improved efficiency (up to 13.5 SEER) and lower operating costs.
Some typical applications for mini splits are:
- Homes where ductwork is impractical or impossible
- Home additions or remodels such as sunrooms or bonus rooms
- Partial or spot cooling (zoning)
- Limited outdoor space
- Home office
- Historical buildings, Stone buildings
- Replace window units
- Lake house or cottage
